We were asked to assist our client with a pre-FEED study into a new satellite development in Central Africa.
The new development was located in the Gulf of Guinea in 50 to 80m of water. The objective of the project was to develop three compact and easy-to-install platforms for both production and water injection .
The new platform option also required new production and water injection pipelines and tie-back to two existing processing platforms, as well as umbilical to carry power and communications.
What we provided
We carried out the pre-FEED study, including general design activities such as:
Platforms:
Structural analysis
Preliminary foundation study
Definition of topside equipment
Topside flow assurance design
Preliminary E&I design
Installation storyboard with a conventional drilling rig
Pipelines and umbilicals:
Flow assurance study
Material selection and corrosion
Stabiltiy
Routing and crossings
Expansion
The retained design for the platforms is a 4-leg CPSP (Conductor Pipe Supported Platform) with modular subsea reinforcement modules (i.e., the legs of the platforms are production or injection wells). The work also included a standardized design of the three platforms, allowing the construction of identical modules, using the same dimensions of the conductors. This challenging approach allows flexibility in the construction schedule and a better cost optimization.
Sanorah managed the technical decisions, the design and installation philosophy whilst two engineering contractors (selected by our client) performed the calculations. The study was achieved in 3.5 months with a very smooth communication between all involved teams.
The benefits
Our expertise and operational experience in fit-for-purpose design enabled our client to own a cost effective solution and an aggressive execution planning.
The modular CPSP design allows a local construction and local integration of the topside equipment. This aspect is a key factor for our client.
